The Spirit of the West, an Independent Expenditure Committee (IEC) supporting Jason Mikesell’s 2026 campaign for Colorado Governor, is committed to protecting the privacy of our donors. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard donor information, ensuring compliance with Colorado campaign finance laws. We pledge that donor information will not be shared outside the IEC, except for the legally required reporting to the Colorado Secretary of State.
Information We Collect
In accordance with Colorado campaign finance laws, the Spirit of the West collects the following information from donors to fulfill reporting requirements:
- Donations Over $20: Full name and address.
- Donations Over $250 (Individuals): Full name, address, occupation, and employer.
- Donations Over $250 (Entities): Full name of the entity (or parent corporation, spelling out acronyms), all names under which the entity does business in Colorado, address of the entity’s home office (or parent corporation’s), and the name and street address in Colorado of the entity’s registered agent.
Use of Information
Donor information is used solely for the purpose of complying with Colorado’s campaign finance reporting requirements. Specifically:
- The information outlined above is reported to the Colorado Secretary of State’s TRACER system, as mandated by law, to ensure transparency in our fundraising activities.
- We do not share donor information with any external parties, including Jason Mikesell’s campaign, other organizations, or third-party vendors, beyond what is legally required for TRACER reporting.
- No additional personal information beyond the required reporting fields will be disclosed to any entity, ensuring donor privacy is maintained to the fullest extent possible under the law.

The Spirit of the West takes the following measures to safeguard donor information:
- All donor data is stored securely in a protected database accessible only to authorized IEC personnel, such as our attorney responsible for TRACER filings.
- We implement strict access controls to ensure that only necessary staff handle donor information, and all personnel are trained on privacy and compliance with Colorado laws.
- Donor information is not used for any purpose other than legal reporting, and we do not sell, trade, or otherwise distribute this information to any third parties.
